Chrome users continue to face new security risks and are warned about the issues that could be dangerous to them.
The Indian government is warning millions of Chrome users about the new risk.
Chrome is facing a new security risk that affects millions of users in India who use the web browser on their Windows or macOS systems. The high risk alert was issued by the Indian government this month through the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) with a high severity ranking, which is never good news and will make people worry about their safety.
Chrome security issue: What users need to know
The security risk with Chrome has been detailed by the agency in its notes: “Multiple vulnerabilities exist in Google Chrome due to object corruption in V8 and out-of-bounds memory access in V8. A remote attacker could exploit these vulnerabilities by running a specially crafted web page to remotely execute code or cause a Denial of Service (DoS) condition on the targeted system.”
The security vulnerabilities exist in some core components of the Chrome browser that are dangerous enough to allow hackers to exploit them and make it easy for them to steal data from the systems running on the vulnerable Chrome versions.
Chrome risk versions
So if you’re using Chrome on Windows, macOS, or a Linux machine, make sure these versions of the browser aren’t running on your system:
– Chrome versions before 132.0.6834.110/111 for Windows and Mac
– Chrome versions before 132.0.6834.110 for Linux
If your system is running Chrome versions older than those mentioned here, we strongly recommend that you take this issue seriously and update the browser for your macOS, Windows, or Linux machine immediately. You can do this by going to the three-dot menu in Chrome – Settings – About – Update Chrome. Google has listed the security fixes that come with the stable channel update.
