After having suffered four defeats in a row, Holy Cross finally turned around against Loyola Maryland on Saturday. They walked away with a 70-65 victory over the Greyhounds.
Holy Cross can attribute a large part of their success to Max Green, who hit 10 out of 16 on the way to 25 points plus six rebounds. The team also received some help from Joe Nugent, who scored 16 points plus seven rebounds.
In the meantime, it might take overtime to do the job, but Boston U. Eventually achieved the result they hoped for on Saturday. They had just enough and defeated Buckknell with 85-82. After they predicted a narrow victory for the terriers, the oddmakers were right with the money.
The victory of Boston U. was the result of various impressive attacking performance. One of the most striking came from Kyrone Alexander, who hit 6 for 11 on his way to 16 points plus five rebounds. Alexander had some difficulty on Wednesday to find his position against the navy, so this was a nice turnaround. Otto Landrum was another important player and almost dropped a Double-Double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Boston U. broke the attacking glass and closed the game with 14 attacking rebounds. They easily surpassed their opponents in that area, since Buckknell only dropped five.
Holy Cross now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Boston U., they raised their record to 10-11 with the victory, with their sixth consecutive home game.
Holy Cross was short of Boston U. When the teams last played in March 2024 and fell 94-84. Can Holy Cross avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We will discover it soon enough.
